TRANS-SAFE is looking for a videographer in Cape Town to capture the story of four years of road safety action across African cities. Applications close 20 July 2026.

Over the past few years, TRANS-SAFE has collaborated with cities, national agencies, and researchers to demonstrate that the Safe System Approach can be effective in African contexts. Living Labs in Kigali, Kumasi, Lusaka, and Cape Town have tested and validated road safety solutions on the ground, supported by capacity building, new data collection methods, a best practice guide for African cities, and an online road safety toolbox.

As the project moves into its final phase, we want to share the legacy of the project to inspire further developments.

ICLEI World Secretariat is inviting professional videography service providers, based in Cape Town, South Africa, to produce a 3 - 4 minute project impact video for TRANS-SAFE. The video will set out the road safety challenge facing African cities, highlight the solutions demonstrated in the four Living Labs, show the project's impact on local communities, city practice, and policy, and close with a message that inspires replication and scale-up.

Overview of tasks

The work is structured around four tasks:

  1. Concept and production plan, developing the video concept, storyline, and shot list, an interview plan for the Final Event, and consent and image release management.

  2. Filming at the TRANS-SAFE Final Event, recording 5 -10 testimonial interviews with project partners, city officials, and political leaders at the Final Event in Cape Town on 4 August 2026 (Protea Hotel Cape Town Waterfront Breakwater Lodge), alongside b-roll of the event and of TRANS-SAFE demonstration sites in the city.

  3. Editing and post-production, assembling the final video with motion graphics, infographics, English subtitles, licensed music, and professional sound and colour work, in line with TRANS-SAFE and EU visual identity requirements.

  4. Supplementary materials and handover, social media cut-downs for LinkedIn, standalone interview clips, and full handover of raw footage and project files.

The assignment runs from 27 July to 24 August 2026.

Who should apply

We are looking for providers, a single entity, or a team of 2-3 individuals, with demonstrated experience producing impact, documentary or event videos, ideally in international development, sustainability, and urban development sectors. Strong storytelling and interviewing skills matter as much as technical ability, and applicants must have their own professional equipment and be available on-site in Cape Town for the event.
